"Every year on the 25th of December, we clamber out of our luxurious beds to the soft snores of our parents, exuberantly excited at the thought of opening our brand new, quite expensive and what some may call precious presents, which unfortunately sometimes, well too often for our liking, cause a wide spread of disappointment across our "fastidious faces". However, too often we don't realise that we are in fact extremely lucky - the thought of less disadvantaged children who don't even have the opportunity to moan at their unwanted presents, as they don't even receive any "prezzies", never springs to our meticulous minds. Does it?
Every year on the 25th of December, they clamber out of their contrasting meagre sometimes makeshift beds, exuberantly excited at the thought it's Christmas, a huge smile spreads across their "flourishing faces". However, unfortunately, less fortunate children never get to experience the delight of sparkling, messy and weirdly wonderful wrapping paper scattered across their floors that surprisingly contain gifts.
Thus, by filling a shoebox with gifts that we perceive as meagre are in fact substantial to a less disadvantaged child. These small but vital gifts can bring exultant joy to a child. Hence, by doing this we can make a difference to a child's life at Christmas, which is inevitably a great feeling to experience; knowing we have caused a feeling of bliss to someone who rarely experiences this almost too common feeling for us.
Operation Christmas Child, set up by the Christian charity Samaritan's Purse began this extraordinary operation, which involves children and adults (like you) to "send gift-filled shoeboxes to disadvantaged children across the world to bring joy into the lives of OVER 80 MILLION CHILDREN".
