Launched on Tuesday 27th September , the Filmclub is part of a national scheme to introduce young people to the whole spectrum of film genres, students will be able to see a wide range of films, from new blockbusters to classic oldies, foreign language films to animations, films that will make them laugh and films that will make them cry. And all for FREE!
Students who wish to participate must fill in a parental consent form, available from student services, and return it to Mrs Howell. Students in years 7, 8 and 9 will be able to view films up to 12A certificate. There will be showings of 15 rated films fortnightly but these will only be available to students in years 10 and above.
Filmclub runs national competitions and, once your son/daughter has brought back their consent form, they will be given a club code to access further information about competitions and other films available. Students will be encouraged to write reviews of the film they have seen. Although this is not obligatory, those that do will have opportunities to help choose future films.
The films must start promptly so we ask that students come straight from lessons to the Drama Studio. Once the film has started, no one else will be allowed in. Popcorn, sweets and drinks will be sold at very reasonable prices organised by and with all proceeds going to the fundraising effort of Team Ghana.
Films will last between 1.5 and 2 hours but length of specific films can be found on the website which will allow you to arrange collection of your son/daughter.
Please do take time to look at the Filmclub website at www.filmclub.org.
If you have any further questions that cannot be answered there, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Howell.
