What's on at Moulton School
History
Our History faculty, located in the main school building benefits from the enthusiasm and experience of 5 teachers, including two deputy heads. Our staff's dedication to providing stimulating lessons is being rewarded with large numbers of students opting to take History at GCSE and A Level and exceptional results. 89% of our 2007 GCSE class reached grade C or above.
The course aims to stimulate interest and enthusiasm for the study of the past and develop an understanding of the historical concepts, processes and periods studied.
Key Stage 3
In Years 7 - 9 all students receive 2 History lessons per week. Students will learn about historical periods and events including; Medieval Realms, English Reformation, English Civil Wars, Industrial Revolution, British Empire, 20th Century Conflicts, The Holocaust and Slavery.
We are a member of the Active History website, www.activehistory.co.uk. History teachers have details of usernames and passwords available to every student.
GCSE
In Years 10 - 11 we offer the OCR Modern World History B 2 year GCSE History course as an option.
Students study aspects of British, European and World history in the 20th Century.
The assessment of course comprises of:
COURSEWORK - (25% of final mark)
EXAMINATION - 2 papers 45% and 30% (75% of final mark)
